Funding recipients for Young Starters’ Fund Round 3 — October 2016 to May 2017

Round three of the Advance Queensland Young Starter’s Fund has recognised fourteen Queensland organisations for funding that will support young Queensland entrepreneurs and startups.

Queensland University of Technology Startup Hatch 2017 is a month-long bootcamp enabling young innovators find their inner entrepreneur. The program is designed and coordinated by students, for students.

Tech Girls Movement Pty Ltd Queensland Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero Showcase. The showcase is the culmination of the competition and we invite participating Queensland students to display the app they have built, and also parents and educators and the public to support the students work at QUT

Generation Innovation The 2017 GI Challenge - brings in young people with an idea. Over a three month period (mirroring real world expectations), participants will engage in up to 10 sessions of guidance, support and market testing which gives their idea the greatest chance to start and test the market with their concept.

The University of Queensland Step Up, Start Up: An Alternative spin on dancing - this project aims to increase awareness and opportunities for young dancers to create dance-related businesses and events. A three day workshop at the University of Queensland (UQ) will introduce participants to entrepreneurship in dance business and events

Creative Industries Precinct Pty Ltd Startup Weekend Creative Tech 2017 -  builds on the first Startup Weekend for Creative Tech hosted by QUT Creative Enterprise Australia in Queensland last year with the aim of encouraging more young people’s participation including targeting in regional areas.

Fiftysix Creations Pty Ltd Fiftysix Education in Aurukun - Fiftysix Education will spend five days in Aurukun running workshops with students aged ten to eighteen. The Fiftysix Education Workshops will teach students about the wonders of computer science, creativity and entrepreneurship. Helping inspire a generation of creators, not just consumers.

The University of the Sunshine Coast Empowering Startup Founders 2017 through Experiential Entrepreneurship Education - program consists of a series of experiential entrepreneurship activities, including Startup Weekend Sunshine Coast (SWSC) 2017, a series of informal meetups, Student Startup Forums and the development of an online mentor portal for the local region.

Brisbane State High School Verge Young Entrepreneurs Program - challenges year 9 students from Brisbane, MacGregor and Kedron State High Schools to put themselves in the role of social entrepreneurs to respond to the driving question “How can we, as social entrepreneurs, come up with an innovative solution to close the gap for one of society’s marginalised groups?

Berwin Ltd Founderfest Fraser Coast – Startup weekend by Berwin Ltd and the Fraser Coast Anglican College will give the participants a practical learning experience in entrepreneurship. 45 participants aged 15-18 years will participate in a 3-day Founderfest to ignite young entrepreneurs.

theSPACE Australasia Emerging Entrepreneurs School Holiday Program - Bridging the gap of innovation and entrepreneurship, EE empowers youth to imagine, create and build careers for their future. EE provides activities, challenges, projects and experiences to teach youth the importance of lateral thinking and dynamics of business, including sessions on communication, agile planning, branding, sponsorship, corporate social responsibility and product development.

Startup Mackay Inc Startup Weekend Youth Mackay - Startup Weekend Youth, Mackay 2017 will be a 48-hour event over 3 days, designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs in the youth community. The weekend event is centred on action, innovation, and education.
